How to Access & Save CT Tube History on Siemens CT Systems

Hi, this is Joe from DirectMed Imaging, coming to you again with another valuable tech tip for Siemens CT systems.

Today, we’ll be discussing a crucial maintenance task: how to access and save your CT tube history on your Siemens CT system. This process is vital for diagnostics, record-keeping, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Enter Siemens CT Service Mode
    • Navigate to Options and select Service.
    • Choose Local Service and enter your usual service key to access the service software.
  2. Choose Backup/Restore for CT Data
    • Select the Backup/Restore option.
    • You’ll see various backup destinations like DVD and USB. We recommend backing up to the C Drive. This method is significantly faster, reducing the overall time involved compared to other backup options.
    • Backing up to the C Drive also allows you to easily transfer the saved CT history file to USB devices and keeps a copy stored on the C Drive for quick emergency access.
  3. Select Backup Package: Software Settings
    • You can only select one package at a time. For CT tube history, choose the Software Settings package.
    • Click Go to initiate the CT backup process.
  4. Monitor CT Backup Progress
    • The backup process status will be displayed in the lower-left corner under “Backup/Restore Running.”
    • You will see the start time and continuous status updates as the backup progresses.
  5. Check for Backup Errors (Siemens CT)
    • If an error occurs during the backup, it will be indicated in the empty fields on the far left-hand side, appearing in red letters.
    • Important Note on Errors: Not all errors are critical:
      • Temporary Files: Errors related to temporary files are usually not a concern, as these should be purged automatically by the system.
      • License Files: Errors concerning license files might indicate an inactive license for a particular option or that the service function is not installed on your software. These typically aren’t issues unless they relate to essential service functions you require.
  6. Locate the CT Backup File
    • Once the CT history backup is complete, navigate to the C Drive.
    • The backup files will be located at the root of the C Drive. Sort them by the “Date Modified” to easily find the most recent backup file.
    • You can then simply drag and drop the backup file to a USB drive for additional, secure storage. This method is much faster than writing directly to a USB device or DVD.
  7. Finish and Exit
    • After transferring the CT backup file, close all windows to return to your desktop.
    • Keeping a backup copy on the C Drive ensures quick access for emergency purposes and provides greater flexibility in managing your Siemens CT backups.
