Windows Key Activation and Windows Shortcut – On Siemens Imaging System

Hello everyone, and welcome to another tech tip from DirectMed Imaging.

Today, I’ll show you how to activate the Windows key on a Siemens system and use keyboard shortcuts that can simplify your workflow. By default, Siemens software disables the Windows key, so pressing it doesn’t do anything. Let’s fix that!

Activating the Windows Key

1. Check Default Behavior

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard. If nothing happens, the key is currently disabled.

Use the Key Combination

• Press Tab, Delete, and Send simultaneously.
• Once done, pressing the Windows key will bring up the Start Menu.

Reverting to Default

• If you restart the system, the Windows key will be disabled again by default.
• You can also manually toggle it off by pressing Tab, Delete, and Send again.

1. Using Keyboard Shortcuts
   Once the Windows key is enabled, you can quickly access various Windows features:

Windows + D

• Minimizes all open windows and takes you directly to the Desktop.

Windows + E

• Opens File Explorer to instantly see all drives, including USB or external hard drives.
• Perfect for saving backups or accessing files on removable media.

1. Returning the System to Default

After you finish servicing, you may wish to disable the Windows key again so it functions as it originally did.

Simply press Tab, Delete, and Send simultaneously to turn off the Windows key.
