Last time, we discussed tube history. Today, we’re continuing with the Siemens Sensation 64, and Kevin will share high-voltage troubleshooting tips.
Using HV Dummy Plugs
- Troubleshooting high-voltage issues on Siemens CT scanners can be made more efficient with a set of HV dummy plugs.
- HV dummy plugs are a tool used to isolate problems in the generator circuit.
- By using these plugs, you can reduce downtime and order the correct part on the first attempt.
Example: Diagnosing Two-Part Arcs
- In this system, two-part arcs have been recorded in the tube log for several days.
- To isolate the problem:
- Insert HV dummy plugs into the high-voltage tank.
- The dummy plugs simulate the tube filament, so the system believes the tube is still installed.
- Use the service platform to diagnose whether the issue is caused by:
- The tube assembly.
- The generator assembly.

- The generator assembly includes:
- The HV tank.
- The A-box.
- Separate components in the E-box.
