Today, I’ll show you how to place a Symbia nuclear medicine camera into Manual (Service) Mode using the G-CON board.
G-CON Board Overview
- Location: On the left side of the gantry, behind the outer cover.
- Normal Status: The seven-segment display typically shows “A1” or “AI.”
- Important Switches:
- Reset switch
- S2 switch
- S1 switch
Entering Manual Mode
1. Observe the Display
- In normal operation, you’ll see “A1” (or “AI”) on the seven-segment display.
2. Reset and Watch the LED
- Press the Reset switch.
- Wait for the red LED to flash.
3. Press S2, Then S1
- When you see the red LED, press S2.
- Next, press S1.
- The display changes from “A1/AI” to “A-” (A dash).
4. Listen for 24V Mains Fan
- You’ll hear the 24V mains fan turn on.
- This confirms the system is now in Manual Mode.
Using Manual Mode
Hand Controller
- Once in Manual Mode, the hand controller button functions change.
- Refer to your service documentation for specific button combinations (e.g., opening detector arms or extending the collimator cart drawers manually).
Important Warning
- Only experienced engineers should use Manual Mode.
- It’s possible to exceed physical motion limits and damage the system if performed incorrectly.
