Position Check on Siemens Ysio

In this week’s tip, our National Technical Support Engineer, Rick Houska, covers how to determine if you have a good encoder using position check on the Siemens Ysio system.

Hi, I’m Rick with DirectMed Imaging, and today we have another tech tip for you.

We’re going to discuss how to determine if an encoder is functioning properly on a Siemens Ysio system using Position Check.

1. Access Position Check

  1. Enter Service Mode
    • Go to Test Tools.
    • Select Stand Tests.
  2. Wait for the List to Populate
    • After a brief pause, you’ll see a list of tests.
  3. Choose “Position Check”
    • Highlight Position Check.
    • Click Run Select.
  4. Start the Test
    • Click Go to populate the encoder values.

On the test screen, you can view:

  • Every encoder value.
  • Absolute encoder readings.
  • Position in centimeters for each axis.

2. Verifying Encoder Movement

  1. Observe the Touch User Interface
    • Located on the tube stand.
  2. Move the Tube Stand
    • For example, slide it along the long rail.
    • Watch the encoder values change in real time on the Position Check screen.
