Reset Motion Electronics in a Siemens Symbia Nuclear Medicine Camera
In this tech tip, you will learn how to reset the motion electronics on a Siemens Symbia nuclear medicine camera.
Today, I’ll show you how to reset and reinitialize all the motion electronics in a Siemens Symbia nuclear medicine camera.
Accessing the G-CON Board
- Location: Under the left side of the gantry, you’ll find the G-CON board.
- Three Breakers: There’s a cutout in the cover for the SNAC, Camera, and Motion breakers.
Sometimes, the motion electronics (LVAs, HVAs) get stuck or uninitialized, resulting in motion faults. You may see an A1 or AI displayed, which doesn’t necessarily indicate a failed board—just that it might be hung (or “stuck”).
Resetting Motion Electronics
1. Identify the Correct Breakers
- Do not turn off the SNAC breaker. It’s typically not part of this issue.
- Flip off the Camera and Motion breakers to kill power to the G-CON board and all motion electronics.
2. Restore Power
- Turn the Camera and Motion breakers back on.
- This reboots the G-CON board, which reloads software to all motion boards and initializes them properly.
3. Press the Green ‘E-Stop’ Reset Button (if necessary)
- Once power is restored, you may need to release the emergency stop by pressing the green button so the system can continue booting.
4. Check the Board Display
- A display of BP indicates the board is pushing out software.
- An AI or A1 without errors means you’re back up and running normally.
